Member Workshop: The Fundamentals of Negotiation
June 6, 2018
4:30pm to 6:30pm

A workshop on the fundamentals of negotiation.

We must negotiate every time we have needs or interests that we are unable to meet without another party’s cooperation. Negotiation features in all aspects of international policymaking: from state-to-state diplomacy to political bargaining to contract agreements. It is just as prevalent—if not more—in everyday life, regardless of profession. Yet despite its necessity, a surprising number of accomplished professionals express uncertainty about negotiating.

The Pacific Council’s Vice President of Initiatives Megan Karsh will facilitate a 2-hour introduction to negotiation fundamentals with an emphasis on applied learning and interactive exercises. Megan is a Lecturer in Law at Stanford Law School, where she teaches negotiation and advanced international negotiation. In this workshop, she will cover basic negotiation frameworks and approaches and introduce key strategic considerations.

This workshop is made possible by the generous contributions of our Pay It Forward donors who help the Pacific Council bring new, diverse voices into our international affairs work.

Attendees are invited to join an optional happy hour taking place after the training from 6:30pm-7:30pm.

Please note: registration is at capacity. If you are a member and would like to be added to the waitlist, please contact events@pacificcouncil.org.
