Pacific Council members come from all backgrounds and fields. While most of our members live and work in the Los Angeles area, many others are up and down the West Coast and across the country and the world. Our global community includes members, sustaining members, community partners, institutional partners, and sponsors. Current members can access our member directory here.
Community Partners
The Council partners with public and private entities across Los Angeles, engaging around issues that have local and global ramifications. We've partnered with youth educational nonprofits, policy organizations, and industry-specific leaders, especially in the trade and tech space. We are increasing our community partnership efforts—be in touch to learn more.
USC Affiliation
The Pacific Council operates in cooperation with the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California (USC). Pacific Council staff are full time USC employees and are privy to all USC employee benefits.
Each President of the Pacific Council—founder Dr. Abraham F. Lowenthal (1995-2005), Dr. Geoffrey Garrett (2005-2008), and Dr. Jerrold D. Green (2008-present)—has also held an academic appointment at USC that facilitates a relationship of joint programming, leadership collaboration, and connections among students, faculty, and Pacific Council members.
In 2018, the Pacific Council launched a graduate-level class on foreign reporting, in collaboration with Annenberg and long-time Council member Professor Phil Seib. Read more about the partnership and outcomes at this link.
