U.S.-French relations are evolving under President Donald Trump and President Emmanuel Macron. The two have become close partners on a variety of issues, such as the recent airstrikes in Syria. France has also supported the United States in its opposition to Russian aggression in Eastern Europe, its involvement in Syria, and its partnership with Iran. And with Paris and Los Angeles gearing up to host the Olympics in 2024 and 2028, the countries are poised for further collaboration on the world stage.
Where do U.S.-French relations stand? To what extent should the two countries be cooperating and sharing best practices on issues including renewable energy, public transportation infrastructure, and law enforcement as they relate to the Olympics? What can the United States learn from the refugee policies of its European allies?
