Read a summary of this event.

A lunch-time conversation with the Honorable George Mitchell, United States Senator from Maine (1980–1995) and Senate Majority Leader (1989–1995), on how Israelis and Palestinians can finally achieve peace.

In 1998 Senator Mitchell brokered the Good Friday Agreement for peace in Northern Ireland. He also served as U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Peace from 2009 to 2011, where he worked to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His new book, "A Path to Peace: A Brief History of Israeli-Palestinian Negotiations and a Way Forward in the Middle East," looks at why past negotiations have failed and offers a practical roadmap for bringing peace to this complicated, troubled region.
