James R. (Jim) Parks, CPA, MBT, is a Managing Director and the leader of the Los Angeles office of CBIZ. He is also the leader of the Family Office and High-Net-Worth practices for the company’s West Region, which includes ten CBIZ offices from Seattle to San Diego, and inland to Phoenix, AZ.
He has more than 45 years of diversified tax, business management and litigation consulting experience with Fortune 500, small and medium-sized public, closely held companies, and high-net-worth individuals.
Jim has served as a tax expert for the U.S. Department of Justice and has extensive experience as an expert witness in entertainment, marital dissolution, trust accounting and real estate related legal proceedings, valuation of partnership interests in real estate partnerships, bankruptcy proceedings, creditor workout plans, and bank credit negotiations.
Entertainment and Media - Jim has provided accounting services to High-Net-Worth individuals and corporate entertainment/media clients including MGM, ABC, Twentieth Century Fox (now owned by Disney) and Hanna-Barbera (now owned by Warner Brothers Animation). He has also served as a special accounting master to the California Superior Court on motion picture film accounting matters. From 1994 to 2003 Jim was CEO and Chairman of the Board of Laser Pacific Media Corporation, a publicly traded television and motion picture postproduction company. During his tenure, he turned the Company around financially and successfully sold it to Kodak in October 2003.
Real Estate - Jim has provided professional services to the real estate industry in every phase, from property acquisition analysis, leasing, financing, to disposition.
