Wakahiu is the Associate Vice President of Programs Operations and Head of Catholic Sisters at the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. She is renowned for her commitment to empowering women religious and fostering sustainable development.
Wakahiu holds a doctorate in Human Development and Higher Education Administration from Marywood University, a Master of Arts from Saint Bonaventure University, and a Bachelor of Education from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa; her formidable educational background underpins her exemplary leadership.
Prior to her current role, she served as Executive Director of the African Sisters Education Collaborative, designing and implementing multiple programs to enhance education and leadership among women religious across the continent in Africa, and building partnerships with over 30 universities.
As an accomplished author and editor, she has published influential works exploring the impact of women on social change in Africa and beyond. Her dedication extends to her service on various philanthropy and higher education boards, including the Global Solidarity Fund, Foundation, and Donors Interested in Catholic Activities, and Tangaza University, where she contributes her expertise to furthering sustainable development and community empowerment globally.
