Lauren Core is an emerging voice in the world of policy, with over 10 years of experience in human and environmental development across multiple sectors. Lauren currently serves as an interdisciplinary researcher, environmental specialist, and communications specialist with the World Bank Group and Global Water Partnership, particularly working with teams on issues of water and climate resilience, behavioral intervention, and inclusive economic growth.

Lauren is a seasoned writer, which has included authoring blogs, peer-reviewed journal articles, and technical eBooks on global social, economic, and environmental issues – with more publications in the works. This includes co-authoring Water Scarce Cities: Thriving in the Finite World, and numerous articles for the United Nations Development Program on issues such as the impact of biofuels in the social policy space.

Lauren has designed, led, and taught workshops, interventions, and in-person and electronic courses all over the world, from India to Turkey. She is also a film producer, writer, and director of live and animated short features, such as What is Farmer-led Irrigation? Unlocking Livelihood, Food, and Water Security. Lauren has delivered lectures, served as an expert panelist, and presented at conferences and institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

With Save the Children, she supported implementation of high-tech health care solutions such as the distribution of Life Straws to over 500 families in marginalized populations. With the World Wildlife Fund, she supported implementation of environmental education programs for both urban and rural communities through the use of mobile libraries.

Lauren holds a Master of Arts in Environment and Development from King’s College London, the University of London, where she graduated with High Honors, and a Bachelor of Arts in Earth and Planetary Science and Creative Writing from the University of California, Berkeley.
