Ms Bennett was appointed Australian Consul-General Los Angeles in December 2023. She is a senior career officer with Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was most recently Assistant Secretary, First Nations Taskforce.

Ms Bennett has previously served overseas in Japan and at Australia's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva. In Canberra, Ms Bennett has served as Assistant Secretary, Communications Branch and as a lead negotiator on the Free Trade Agreement with the European Union.

Ms Bennett holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Queensland University and a Master of Foreign Affairs and Trade degree from Monash University. She is married with two children.
