Alexander W. Preve is a Litigation Associate at Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass LLP. Prior to joining Coblentz, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Edward M. Chen of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

Mr. Preve publishes on international criminal law, international human rights law, and national security law. His Note, Crisis and Complicity: An Analysis of U.S. Support for Saudi Coalition Airstrikes Under the Law of Aiding and Abetting (Alleged) War Crimes, was published in the Georgetown Journal of International Law. Mr. Preve is also a contributor at Transnational Litigation Blog (“TLB”), a resource for practitioners, academics, students, journalists, and the general public to learn about cases in domestic courts that involve transactions, parties, conduct, or evidence located in another country. Mr. Preve wrote an article for TLB that analyzes the legal issues surrounding a class action lawsuit brought by Rohingya refugees against Meta for its alleged role in facilitating the genocidal acts committed against the Rohingya in Myanmar.

Mr. Preve received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he served as an Articles Editor on the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law. He received his B.A. in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Preve served as a Senior Analyst & Project Manager in the Obama White House, where he worked in the Office of Presidential Correspondence and helped select the ten letters that President Obama would read on a daily basis.
