From Rio to Los Angeles: Bidding for the 2024 Olympics
Global Los Angeles
August 15, 2016
9:00am to 9:30am

Teleconference Call

A teleconference on Los Angeles' bid to host the 2024 Olympic Games featuring Gene Sykes, Chief Executive Officer of the LA 2024 Exploratory Committee.

Sykes, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, and other members of the committee traveled to the Rio Olympics to discuss L.A.’s bid with International Olympics Committee voters and officials. The LA 2024 committee aims to bring the Games to Los Angeles, to "reimagine a new Olympic Games for a new Olympic era." Crucially, according to the committee, "Ninety-seven percent of the venues in the LA 2024 Games Concept either exist, are already planned as permanent venues by private investors, or will be temporary facilities."

How is the bid committee working in Rio to bring the Olympic Games to Los Angeles? Why should the city be considered as a serious contender to host the 2024 Games?

Featuring:
