San Diego, CA and Tijuana, MX
On January 23 and 24, 2023 a delegation of Pacific Council members will visit San Diego and Tijuana to examine a diverse set of border-related issues, starting with a firsthand look at the dynamics at the U.S.-Mexico border. Delegates will observe the distinct ways each country receives, processes, and supports migrants and refugees, interact with those responsible for implementing and responding to border policies in each country, and see closeup the challenges migrants face.
This delegation will also highlight the strengths of the California border region, including ever deepening economic and trade relationships, and how these strengths can be leveraged to overcome some of the current challenges. In Tijuana, delegates will meet with government, business, and civil society leaders to gain a deeper understanding of this city that’s more than just a border town. Economic opportunities from the factory floor, a vibrant food scene, innovation hubs, and a civil society engaged to improve lives on both sides of the fence—Tijuana’s future is about much more than just the border. Join us to experience the U.S.-Mexico relationship from both sides of the border and meet with the leaders, thinkers, and doers that this dynamic region is pulling together.
Day one of this delegation will take place in the San Diego, California border region. Day two will be spent in Tijuana.
