Pacific Council President and CEO Jerry Green delivered remarks about the microcosm of LA as an “exemplar to the country and the rest of the world” at the second annual Global LA Summit in May. He noted examples of global-local action taking place in the city, including a USC Viterbi School of Engineering class that spurs undergraduate students to propose solutions to major global challenges.
Watch Dr. Green’s remarks and a video about the USC class, in which students traveled to Mouria Refugee Camp in Greece and invented products to solve the challenges they witnessed on the ground:
“Los Angeles is a microcosm of the great experiment of the United States of America. More than ever, LA needs to serve as an example to the rest of the United States and the world, and it is doing so today,” said Green.
Special thank you to Sonny Astani, a Pacific Council Director and member of our Christopher Society for his work to elevate and support the USC Viterbi endeavor, creating young global citizens in the process.
