The Pacific Council is pleased to announce four new members have joined our Board of Directors as of October 2018.
Directors bring to the Council their experience as leaders in business, law, nonprofit organizations, international NGOs, academia, and government. Our new directors are prominent global leaders who represent the diverse voices in today's international affairs conversations.

Mr. Emilio Cadena
President & CEO, Grupo Prodensa (MX)
Mr. Cadena is a Monterrey, Mexico-based business leader with expertise in assisting large manufacturing companies establish operations in Mexico. Mr. Cadena currently serves as the co-chairman of the Border Transformation Working Group of the US-Mexico CEO Dialogue, which is coordinated by Mexico’s Consejo Coordinador Empresarial (CCE) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He is also the lead consultant for Mexico’s Economic Strategic Zones (ZEE) investment attraction.
Ambassador Michael Lawson
President & CEO, Los Angeles Urban League; Former U.S. Representative to the Council of International Civil Aviation Organization
Ambassador Lawson is currently the President and CEO of the Los Angeles Urban League and formerly served as the U.S. Representative to the Council of International Civil Aviation Organization. Prior to his appointment, Ambassador Lawson served as a partner at the international law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flori, LLP in their New York and Los Angeles offices until he retired in 2011.
Ms. Maria Salinas
President & CEO, Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce
Ms. Salinas is the President and CEO of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, the first woman in that position, and has an extensive background in finance. Ms. Salinas founded Salinas Consulting, a finance and accounting consultancy firm. For more than 10 years, Salinas Consulting has worked with major corporations providing collaborative financial expertise to specific engagements.
Mr. Gene Sykes
CEO, LA2028
Mr. Sykes leads LA 2028, Los Angeles’ effort to locate and manage the upcoming Olympics. Prior to joining the Bid Committee, Mr. Sykes was co-head of Global Mergers & Acquisitions, co-chairman of the Global Technology, Media and Telecom Group and a member of the Management Committee and the Firmwide Client and Business Standards Committee of Goldman Sachs.

The Honorable Marc B. Nathanson
Co-Chair
The Pacific Council is also pleased to announce that Marc Nathanson has been re-elected to another three-year term as our board co-chair. The Pacific Council has thrived under Mr. Nathanson's leadership, helping the Council to grow significantly and developing key issue areas to focus our work, like our Global Water Scarcity Initiative.
In 2012, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, appointed Mr. Nathanson as her representative to the Board of the East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mr. Nathanson is vice chair of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, and was founding chair of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) for Los Angeles. He previously founded and served as chairman and CEO of Falcon Cable TV. Mr. Nathanson additionally served as chairman of the Broadcasting Board of Governors during the Clinton and Bush Administrations (1995-2002). He was also a member of the Presidentially-appointed Albanian Enterprise Fund. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Aspen Institute, and Center for the Digital Future at USC. Mr. Nathanson is also a member of the Los Angeles Coalition for the Economy and Jobs, and the Council on Foreign Relations.
