Remembering Pacific Council Member John McCain
August 28, 2018

I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Senator John McCain, a member and supporter of the Pacific Council on International Policy. On behalf of our Board of Directors and members, I extend condolences to Senator McCain’s family.

I, along with our Co-Chairs Ambassador Rockwell Schnabel and Mr. Marc Nathanson, always appreciated his commitment to American values and leadership in the world, navigating complex waters and personal trials with grace and dignity.

Senator McCain tirelessly lifted up the voice of the American West during his time in Washington, infusing innovation and a maverick spirit where it is sorely needed.

The Pacific Council fondly remembers Senator McCain’s keynote address at Members Weekend in 2014 and the time he shared his insights with our Sustaining Members, plus the support he has shown for the Pacific Council’s mission through the McCain Institute for International Leadership.

Senator McCain tirelessly lifted up the voice of the American West during his time in Washington, infusing innovation and a maverick spirit where it is sorely needed. Today we honor the memory of Senator McCain for his dedication to keeping the United States actively and thoughtfully engaged in the world.
