The Pacific Council Board of Directors has elected Marc B. Nathanson, Chair of Mapleton Investments, LLC, as its newest Board Co-Chair. Nathanson is a founding member of the Pacific Council (established in 1995) and has served as a member of the Board of Directors for seven years. 

Nathanson succeeds outgoing Co-Chair Mickey Kantor, a Partner at Mayer Brown LLP and former U.S. Secretary of Commerce (1996-1997) and U.S. Trade Representative (1993-1996). Ambassador Robert H. Tuttle, Co-Managing Partner of Tuttle-Click Automotive Group and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom (2005-2009), will continue his service as Co-Chair.

“I am proud to work alongside Marc as we enter this new chapter in the Pacific Council’s history,” Tuttle stated. “I know he will help lead us to new heights in our programming, membership, and fundraising efforts.”

Outgoing Co-Chair Kantor remarked, “I’ve been friends with Marc for 40 years due to our involvement in international relations. I know he will continue the path of ensuring that the Pacific Council is the most important and effective foreign policy group in Southern California.”

Nathanson has a distinguished career in global affairs, including a 2012 appointment by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as her representative to the Board of the East-West Center in Hawaii. He is Vice Chair of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, and he was founding Chair of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) for Los Angeles. Nathanson also serves on the Board of Trustees of both the Aspen Institute and the University of Southern California’s Center for the Digital Future, and he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Los Angeles Coalition for the Economy and Jobs.

Nathanson also chairs Falcon Waterfree Technologies, the leading global maker of water conservation products, and was the Founding Chair and CEO of Falcon Cable TV. During the Clinton and Bush Administrations, Nathanson served as Chair of the Broadcasting Board of Governors.
