I am proud to announce the launch of the Pacific Council’s Pay It Forward campaign. This campaign supports an organization-wide effort to bring a rich diversity of perspectives into our global affairs work.
Contributions to the Pay It Forward campaign help us offset the cost of participation for young people and not-for-profit professionals, bring in more women as speakers and members, and invest time and resources into actively recruiting from other underrepresented groups.
We aspire to become a leader in our field in terms of gender, age, geographic, professional, and ethnic diversity. We are off to a great start: the Council’s newest elected class is the first new member group in our twenty-year history to comprise a majority of women.
"Good enough" is just not in the Council's DNA.
Yet we know how much work still lies ahead. Women still represent only 33% of the Pacific Council’s network. That proportion is on par with our peer organizations, but good enough is just not in the Council’s DNA. I know that we can not only do better; here on the West Coast we can be a leader on inclusivity within the international affairs field.
This isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s the smart thing to do. With every new perspective, our community grows stronger. Please join me and make your donation to the Pacific Council this year in support of our Pay It Forward campaign.
Thanks for all you do,
