A Situation Briefing teleconference on President Trump's executive order temporarily suspending the U.S. refugee program and its impact in the United States and around the world.
On January 27, President Trump signed an executive order halting the United States' refugee program for 120 days and barring nationals from seven predominantly Muslim countries — Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen — for 90 days. It is estimated that more than 218 million people worldwide including all refugees will be impacted by the order, dubbed "Protecting the nation from foreign terrorist entry into the United States." The Department of Homeland Security said Tuesday it will extend waivers to 872 refugees to enter the United States despite the order.
How will the executive order affect refugee resettlement around the world? What will be the impact on America's image abroad?
