Zissis Marmarelis is currently a Ph.D. Student at Sol Price School of Public Policy at the University of Southern California. His research revolves around Environmental and Energy Policy, primarily in the European Union. He is specifically interested in the political economy and geopolitical implications of the energy transition as we progress towards a decarbonized world.
Having earned his degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 2019, Zissis strives to apply these quantitative techniques to international policy analysis. Previously, he conducted research involving signals and systems analysis in the context of physiological systems and was involved in numerous hospital volunteering programs.
Zissis grew up in Greece and has studied throughout Europe, obtaining a passion for language learning, history, foreign policy, cultural empathy, and life-long learning.
