I am a physician that spent many years as a faculty member of the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Department of Emergency Medicine and subsequently in the Los Angeles County and Orange County Health Departments. My area of expertise includes health issues at the U.S.-Mexico border and local/global public health emergencies.

I am currently a faculty member of the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and the University of the Piedmont in Italy. In both positions, I teach courses in local and global emergency public health emergencies.

I remain active in clinical medical research and community public health.
