Matt is a Managing Director in KPMG's Value Chain Management practice, focusing on international tax and operational planning for multinational businesses. He advises startups, midsize businesses, and some of the world’s largest corporations and has experience working both within Big 4 accounting firms and a Fortune 100 publicly traded company. He assists his clients to adapt to disruption – whether to their operating model as a result of new technology and competition, as a result of legislative and regulatory change, geopolitical and trade tensions, or strategic changes resulting from international expansion, a reorganization, or mergers & acquisitions. He has led the post-acquisition integration planning and execution with respect to a number of high profile, multi-billion dollar deals.
At KPMG, Matt is also involved with a number of initiatives wherein he has contributed to the global public debate and advised clients on global tax policy matters including the OECD BEPS project, changing international rules regarding the taxation of the "Digital Economy," and the increasing role of "Responsible Tax" initiatives as part of a company’s overall CSR and ESG strategy.
Matt devotes significant time to giving back to the community through volunteering his time with Together We Rise, a Southern California-based non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of children in foster care, a number of relief organizations – having spent time volunteering in Texas, Mexico, and Uganda, as well as through his local church. He holds undergraduate degrees in International Relations and History from UC San Diego, a JD from Boston University, an LLM in Tax from Loyola Law School, and has studied in Berlin and Jerusalem.
