Kieran L. Ramsey is currently Chief Intelligence Officer for Global Reach a non-profit/non-governmental hostage advocacy organization, with the sole mission of bringing Americans home who are unjustly detained or held hostage abroad.  He recently retired as an Assistant Director at the FBI after a 30+ year career, wherein he was also previously the Special Agent in Charge of the Portland Field Office, overseeing all FBI personnel, facilities and operations in the State of Oregon.  Mr. Ramsey also had served as the director of the Hostage Recovery Fusion Cell,  U.S. government interagency task force charge with developing and executing strategy to safely secure the release of Americans held in captivity abroad.

Mr. Ramsey joined the FBI as a special agent in 1998 and was assigned to the Seattle Field Office. He worked on a public corruption task force, an organized crime squad, and on the Seattle Joint Terrorism Task Force. Mr. Ramsey also served as the senior leader of Seattle’s Evidence Response Team and deployed to the World Trade Center after 9/11.

Mr. Ramsey served two separate tours as the Legal Attache (senior FBI official) in Cairo, Egypt (where he served the U.S. embassies in Egypt, Sudan, and Libya) and Rome, Italy (where he served the U.S. embassies in Italy, the Holy See, and Malta).  Mr. Ramsey also had multiple domestic leadership positions, to include serving as the supervisory senior resident agent of the New Hampshire FBI offices, as well as the assistant special agent in charge of the Boston Field Office, wherein he led the Boston Marathon Bombing Task Force.

Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Ramsey was a special agent with the former U.S. Customs Service (currently known as Homeland Security Investigations). He earned a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University in Boston and a master’s degree from Georgetown University in Washington.
