Mr.
Name:
Jared Erwin
Manager, GDD Global Implementation, ICANN
Los Angeles, CA
United States

Jared Erwin is Manager of GDD Global Implementation at ICANN. Since starting at ICANN he has been a key part of the team that manages applications for new generic top level domains. Recently, he has also been managing a team that works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that advice to the ICANN Board and organization from ICANN advisory committees, such as the Governmental Advisory Committee, is acted upon in a timely and efficient manner.

Jared joined ICANN shortly after finishing a Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree at UCLA in 2013, where he focused on International Policy issues and spent a semester in Berlin, Germany at the Hertie School of Governance.

Prior to his studies at UCLA, Jared worked as a Procurement Agent for Spirit Aerosystems, a major supplier to both Boeing and Airbus, in Wichita, Kansas, where he grew up. As a Procurement Agent, Jared was responsible for working and negotiating with vendors to obtain systems and parts for the cockpit as well as the landing gear for, at the time, the brand-new Boeing 787 airplanes. It was also during this time that Jared obtained an MBA from Newman University in Wichita.

Before his work at Spirit Aerosystems, Jared was finishing his undergraduate studies at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, where he completed degrees in both German and Linguistics. He also did a Fulbright year in Berlin, teaching English at a high school with a predominantly immigrant population. It was his time in Berlin that revealed his desire to have a hand in international affairs and policy, and this is eventually what led him to his studies at UCLA.

In his free time, Jared enjoys traveling, learning new languages (he is currently focused on Chinese), reading, and playing with his dog.
