James Prince is a board member and president of the Democracy Council, an international nonprofit organization committed to advancing democracy, the rule of law, human rights, peacebuilding, conflict resolution, independent media, and countering extremism. He oversees all facets of the organization, including directing grant-funded programs exceeding $150 million in over 25 countries.

 

Jim is a sought-after speaker, media commentator, and resource for policymakers. His international development work has been widely covered in regional and global media, including a featured segment on CBS 60 Minutes. His experience extends to testifying in international terrorism cases and providing testimony before the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

 

Jim served as a non-resident fellow with Trends Research and Advisory, a new generation fellow with the American Assembly, and an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University. He participated in multinational electoral missions in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Iraq, the Palestinian Authority, and South Africa. His articles have been published in the Christian Science Monitor, Conflict Studies, Journal of Current Affairs, Daily Star, Detroit News, Forbes, Forward, Houston Chronicle, Jerusalem Post, LA Daily News, Newsday, SF Chronicle, Terrorism Violence and Insurgency, The Hill, Times of Israel, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Times.

 

Before co-founding the Democracy Council in 2001, Jim was a Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers' Financial Advisory Services and a senior professional staff member for the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere Affairs. In 1993, Jim was appointed by the Mayor to the committee investigating corruption in the LAPD.

 

Jim earned a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an M.A. in National Security Policy from George Washington University. He studied at the American University in Cairo.
