Barry A. Sanders is an adjunct professor in the Communications Studies Department and the Law School at UCLA, teaching Public Diplomacy and International Business Negotiation, among other courses. Mr. Sanders practiced law as a partner at Latham & Watkins and chaired the firm’s international practice for many years. He belongs to the Council on Foreign Relations and the Pacific Council on International Policy. He chairs the Southern California Committee for the Olympic Games.  Sanders is a director of the USC Center for Public Diplomacy.  He is also on the Executive Committee of the Board of the League of American Orchestras and is on the Executive Committee of the Board of the Los Angeles Opera. He has chaired the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Public Library Foundation, the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Commission, and the Los Angeles Coliseum Commission, among other civic engagements. Mr. Sanders has also chaired the Los Angeles County Bar and California State Bar International Law Sections. He is author of American Avatar: The United States in the Global Imagination (Potomac Books, 2011) and The Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games (Arcadia Publishing, 2013.) He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Yale Law School.
