Alexander S. Blum is the Managing Director of hxa (www.hxa.design), a consultancy focused on action, designing and executing contextually appropriate solutions within complex systems. He has studied at Tufts University, Arizona State University, and MIT. After completing his undergraduate degree, he joined the Peace Corps as an Economic Development Consultant, living with an indigenous tribe in Western Panama and without phone or internet service. Following his service, while pursuing his graduate studies in Global Technology and Development, he started an international telecommunications social enterprise, designing and deploying wireless cellular infrastructure to rural areas in Latin America. Keen on incorporating quantitative measures into his work, he continued his education, studying data analytics at MIT. Through his expertise, he’s gone on to consult for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Ministry of Telecommunications of Honduras, and a number of startups working within the technology and development space. The creation of hxa has led to a wider range of engagements he oversees for his team, working with family impact investors on effective impact investing, technologists on financial applications of AI, and marketing and communications strategy for a sustainable infrastructure investment organization. Alexander looks forward to continuing to grow and learn while contributing to the world around him. He can be reached at alexander@hxa.design.
