The Pacific Council hosted a teleconference discussion with arms trafficking expert Ms. Kathi Austin on Thursday, November 10. Ms. Austin, who is Executive Director of the Conflict Awareness Project, shared a behind-the-scenes perspective on the ongoing trial of Viktor Bout, the alleged leader of one of the world’s largest trafficking networks, and discussed the recent controversial “Fast and Furious” operation, its significance in the greater context of global arms trafficking, and the attendant challenges posed for U.S. national security.
